Did Jesus Go To Hell After The Crucifixion? PART 2

Yesterday we talked about the accurate meanings of Sheol, Hades and Hell as it relates to Jesus going to Hell as part of His passion seen in His suffering, death and resurrection. We saw there is much confusion in trying to relate modern concepts to the original language words for Sheol, Hades and Gehenna. But the confusion is not just there. Also other confusions contribute to the overall misunderstanding.

The problem for us as humans is that if we have a certain theology, philosophy, understandings, beliefs or attitudes, then even if we study the original languages, if we already have preset understandings and attitudes, coupled with less than accurate Hebrew and Greek dictionaries, then even what is clear in the original language is not clear to the translators, much less when translated, or to those who read those translations.

While there are many Old Testament Scriptures that could be applied to Jesus in Hell, the place of suffering, a key New Testament Scripture relating to Jesus in the center of Satan’s domain and suffering until Father God raised Jesus from the dead while in Hell is:

Col 2:15 “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

The key word here is “spoiled.” The actual Greek word does not mean spoiled except as a consequence to an action that totally destroyed the ability of something or someone to exercise any power. We will look at Vine’s Expository Dictionary in Biblesoft’s PC Study Bible software, Version 5, for further understanding.

Before we go into this rather technical description of the meaning of the word translated as “spoiled” or “dethroned,” we will say it describes the process of throwing off as if a coat, or full authority over, and such that the coat can not get back on the person. It is a total and complete assertion of a greater power that results in powerlessness in that which is thrown off, spoiled or dethroned.

SPOIL: apekduo (NT:554), in the middle voice is translated “having spoiled” in Col 2:15, KJV, RV, “having put off from Himself (the principalities and the powers).” These are regarded by some as the un-sinning angels, because they are mentioned twice before in the Epistle 1:16; 2:10. It is also argued that the verb apekduo, rendered “having put off from Himself,” in 2:15, is used in a somewhat different sense in 3:9. Such representations do not form a sufficiently cogent reason for regarding the principalities and the powers here mentioned as those of light, rather than those of darkness (Satan).

Others think that the reference is to the holy angels, which were in attendance at the giving of the Law Acts 7:53; Gal 3:19, and that Christ wrought His work on the cross, without any such attendance; or, again, that, even apart from the Law and its circumstances, the Lord stripped Himself of those who usually ministered to Him, as, e. g., in the wilderness and in the garden of Gethsemane.

The exposition given by Lightfoot and others seems to be the right one. There is no doubt that Satan and his hosts gathered together to attack the soul of Christ, while He was enduring, in propitiatory sacrifice, the judgment due to our sins, and fulfilling the great work of redemption. There is an intimation of this in Ps 22:21, “Save Me from the lion’s mouth; yea, from the horns of the wild-oxen” (cf. vv. 12,13). Doubtless the powers of darkness gathered against the Lord at that time, fiercely assaulting Him to the utmost of their power. He Himself had said, “This is your hour, and the power of darkness” Luke 22:53. The metaphor of putting off from Himself these powers need not be (but still could be) pressed to the extent of regarding them as a garment clinging about Him.

It seems to stand simply as a vivid description of His repulsion of their attack and of the power by which He completely overthrew them. (from Vine’s Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words, Copyright © 1985, Thomas Nelson Publishers.)

So the meaning of the word spoiled in Col 2:15 means that Satan and his horde were all over Jesus, attacking and tormenting Jesus, and when Jesus “threw them off” it happened in a manner to destroy the legal right of Satan to rule in the Earth and covered all of Satan’s domain, which would include Gehenna, or hell as the place of suffering or torment.

One of the issues with this word apekduo is that is not just a result or consequence word, but a process word of how you got that result or consequence.

Translating it as spoiled is a result, but the process is a throwing off or casting off with force so no force or ability remains in that which is cast off. We could very well use that word for how the American colonies apekduo the British rule in 1776. In the time of the ancient Greeks this could be applied to the political overthrow for freedom, or the release of a slave, and aptly fits with Jesus in the throne area of Satan, under attack, overwhelmed as if covered by a cloak, and then throwing off that cloak and rule to freedom. Jesus did not just throw off and get away; He threw off and made captivity captive, got gifts for mankind, and thus spoiled Satan and his horde.

Jesus partook of flesh and blood: Since Jesus suffered death for all mankind, that would include the torments of hades as part of that process since sin in any man could send that man to hades. Jesus was made in “all respects” like His brethren, and that included suffering in hades.

Heb 2:14 “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he (Jesus) also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For verily he (Jesus) took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. 17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. 18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.”

The key words here are in verse 14, “took part in the same,” verse 16, “took on Him the seed of Abraham,” and verse 17 “in all things … made like unto His brethren.” This is joint identification with the rich man of Luke 16:23 tormented in fire (Gehenna). The temptation would include the temptation to give up trusting God in the midst of hell or any other lesser perdition. So Jesus suffered all of death, including the death of the damned.

Jesus went through all of that so that so He covered the full gamut of what is possible for a human or humanity to experience in death. And since Jesus did that, and conquered and did not give up His faith in God, Jesus is able to provide life, succor anyone or all men in the depths of the worst it is possible for a human to experience to go through to God’s glory.

Jesus did it, and He can give what you need for you to make it through anything also per verse 18. This is total and complete redemption and salvation. This the work at the level of God. This is the work worthy of the mighty Arm of God, my Lord, Jesus Christ!

Jesus is our help: What amazes me is that in verse 18 Jesus, because He did not give up trusting God, can give others in trials the help they need to make it through to God’s glory. For myself, I constantly fight the, “I told you so, let them suffer for their own stupidity.” Jesus is not that way, and praise God that attitude is going out of me also so I will walk in the way of agape love.

Chapter 3 of Hebrews goes on to say:

Heb 2:18 For in that he (Jesus) himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus.” KJV

We can ever look to Jesus to get us through any damnation we may experience, including death. This is grace and love, and it humbles me. You may want to debate; all I want to do is say, “Thank You, Jesus!”

How to beat the devil: Somehow Jesus, even when He was made sin (2 Cor 5:21) kept His faith in God so Father God by Holy Spirit could raise Jesus from the dead. The meaning of the word dead implies the rule of Satan, for God is the God of Zoe Life and not the God of death. So much so that one of Jesus’ proud victorious shouts is:

Rev 1:17 “And when I (John) saw him (Jesus), I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that zao/liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am zao/alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of Hades/hell and of death.” KJV

This clearly states that prior to this in verse 18, Jesus, and therefore God, did not have the keys of authority over death or Hades. Satan did and Jesus conquered Satan and got the keys or authority. This is part of what Jesus accomplished in His Great Work as the mighty Arm of God in His incarnation and leading to His glorification before and in God.

Wuest says: Kenneth Wuest, the very respected modern Greek authority translates Col 2:15 making an accurate translation of the word apekduo:

Col 2:13 “… having nailed it to the Cross; having stripped off and away from himself the principalities and authorities, He boldly made an example of them, leading them in a triumphal procession in it.” Wuest (from The New Testament: An Expanded Translation by Kenneth S. Wuest Copyright © 1961 by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. All rights reserved.)

K. Wuest is even stronger than Vine in declaring that indeed Jesus was covered over as with a garment and Jesus then threw off that garment of the devil and his horde. The same horde Jesus led captive and made a triumphant display of.

So it seems Jesus got into a condition where Satan appeared to be in control and then Jesus was able to break that control and “cast off” Satan like one would cast off a shirt or a boa constrictor trying to crush it’s victim.

Since Jesus got the key to Hades, He also got the key to Gehenna, and it did not come without a fight. A fight means there is the possibility that the other guy could win.

It is a MYSTERY! How Jesus, as deity, could become sin, and the sin of all mankind, and be under the control of Satan in the condition of death where Satan did have the key, the authority, the control, is not clear. Many have struggled for years to understand this. The New Testament calls this a “mystery.” And since the incarnation was for a purpose, it includes the purpose and process Jesus had to go through to accomplish that purpose.

1 Tim 3:16 “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” KJV

Justified-born again in spirit: Notice Jesus was justified in Spirit, meaning for a time His spirit was unjustified, sin. The word “Spirit” is not capitalized in the original Greek and is a measure of the theological complexity the KJV translators suffered with. Wow, this is a mystery!

Now me, I am rather simple. If God says this is a mystery, I will put that on the shelf and work on what are not mysteries in the Scriptures. Then perhaps God will explain a few mysteries to me once I get what is clearly revealed in hand. Based on the number of discussions on this, I appear to be in the minority, but I get to see Jesus heal people all the time when I pray and lay hands on them. So in spite of my minority position, I get to see Jesus confirm the Word of His grace through me. I wonder if the majority has the same experience?

Vine allows Jesus suffered in His soul. The soul (heart, mind, will and emotions) would indeed suffer due to the circumstances, whipping, nails and all the other cruelties of that Passover Day 2000 years ago. So Jesus’ suffering was total man – spirit, soul and body. Thus the redemption He obtained is total for man – spirit, soul and body.

Here is the same message in 1 Peter 3:18. Here this Scripture talks about Jesus being reborn from death in spirit, which we think is the same as justified in spirit. For this is what happens in the new creation. Notice the word “Spirit” is not capitalized in the original Greek. First we give the KJV, then the Wuest version which makes it even clearer.

1 Peter 3:18 “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but zao/quickened (made alive, reborn from death to zoe life) by the Spirit (or in spirit): 19 by which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison.” KJV

1 Peter 3:18 “Because Christ also died once for all in relation to sins, a just One on behalf of unjust ones, in order that He might provide you with an entrée into the presence of God, having in fact been put to death with respect to the flesh [His human body], but made zao/alive with respect to the spirit [His human spirit], by which [human spirit] also having proceeded ….” Wuest

And yet again:

Col 1:18 “And he (Jesus) is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” KJV

Here Jesus is called the “first born” from the dead just as every new believer gets born again. We know that when a person is made a new creation, their spirit is reborn, they are to save their soul in this life, and they will get a new body at the resurrection. So Jesus was re-born from death in spirit, from the control and lordship of Satan, just as every one who is “saved” must be. And is like His brethren.

Now in order for Jesus to become justified, He as some point had to be “unjust” or un-righteousness. And in order to be made alive or born again, Jesus had to be dead to the level it required Holy Spirit to raise Jesus from this condition of un-justified and un-alive. Yes, this is a mystery and all those who build massive, even to killing others over it, theologies, will not call it what Holy Spirit calls it, “a mystery.”

And again for good measure:

Rom 8:10 “And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is zoe/life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal (current death doomed bodies) bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” KJV

Notice again it was the Spirit of zoe life that raised Jesus from the dead. If Jesus was spiritually alive in death, He would not need to be made alive from death. So Jesus must have been spiritually dead in His great work. Once again, Wow, what a mystery! What an awesome God!

But why? So the way Jesus was able to become sin, yet keep His trust in God to raise Him for being unjust, un-righteousness, is a wonderful mystery. So let us look at the verses around Col 2:15 to get an understanding of why Jesus was sin, and overwhelmed and in the control of death or Satan.

Col 2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out-of-the-way, nailing it to his cross; 15 and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” KJV

First Holy Spirit starts off with a warning, that others will try to confuse and make the message of what Jesus did ineffectual in your life. The “rudiments of the world,” implies the base nature of Satan and his demons. So the real source of confusion is not God, but the devil for the devil knows the more you know the truth, the more you will be able to set yourself and then others free of the devil’s power and abilities.

John 8:31 “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” KJV

Liberty in God: This freedom is to be all you are made in Jesus to the glory of God.

Eph 4:7 “But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. 8 Wherefore he saith, When he (Jesus) ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11 And he (Jesus) gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 but speaking the truth in agape/love, may grow up into him (Jesus as He is now) in all things, which is the head, even Christ.” KJV

What is Peace? Part of what Jesus got in the “throwing off” process is gifts that included ministers who would build you up in agape love into Jesus, “in all things, which is the head, even Christ.” So if your ministry team does not have this as its goal, and can demonstrate at least some parts of this in their flock, why do you stay with them? Are you in intense intercession for them to be about their job given by God? If not, are you any better than they? Are you part of the present mass of Christianity that wants the peace of God to deaden the pain of a defeated foe, Satan, as he apparently runs rampant over your life, your family and your society?

If that is true, I think you have a wrong or inadequate understanding of the Bible word peace. It is hard for me to accept that the peace of God means the same thing you get with a euphoric high from drugs, a bottle of bourbon, a pill like Prozac, or exhaustion at the end of a day of slavery digging ditches. Please see the Glossary in any of my current books for a more complete understanding of what peace Jesus left us with. Or consider this is the peace Jesus was talking about:

Acts 10:36 “The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching PEACE by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) 37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; 38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” KJV

How will I know this is working in you? When people come to the Church to get healed and taught the ways of prosperity in God.

Colossians and Ephesians make it clear that Jesus went through all this “mystery of godliness” for us. He did not need to do it for Himself. Jesus was and is deity. Jesus did this to deliver the Father’s agape love to all mankind. Jesus did this for you and for me to the level of God, to the satisfaction of God, to the glory of God and to keep the promise of God.

Col 2:12 “(And us) buried with him (Jesus) in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

How to make this work for you: So the fruit of godliness in Jesus was quickening and raising us to be with Him at the right hand of the Father. You enter in when you get born again or made a new creature in Christ. You operate in it by faith, once you know the facts, so you can destroy the works of the devil and build and maintain the Kingdom of God. This is summarized here:

Philemon 6 “That the communication (manner of living in Holy Spirit) of thy faith may become effectual (powerful to bring Heaven to Earth, now in this life) by the epignosis/acknowledging (learning, practicing and operating as a master craftsman) of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.” KJV

The gospel includes majoring on what we are given in our so great salvation. And it will give you a lot more effective prayer life as you no longer will pray for what you already have in Jesus. If you do not think you have it, you certainly will not renew your mind on how to use what you already have, but think you do not. To me the great good news is simply telling people what Jesus already did for them by grace, and then watch the Lord confirm the word of His grace with signs and wonders.

Here is an excerpt from OK, God, Now What on this:

Here is a summary of the Gospel Jesus preached. Jesus, the Christ/Messiah, came to demonstrate that now is the Day of Salvation from the evil rule of Satan in the present world system. This was seen in Jesus’ preaching of truth, and in the miracles of healing, dead raising, food multiplication, stopping storms and walking on water.

This means God solved the problem of how God, by Jesus, through Holy Spirit, can reign on the Earth through men to bring Heaven to Earth and destroy the kingdom of darkness. This restores man to his original position as the vehicle by which God will fill the Universe with the glory of God. Man is the hope of Heaven, and Jesus did the work to make this a past completed potential. When you get born again, with indwelling Holy Spirit, you step into this awesome potential.

Men must pray and act for God to get the job done.

Titus 2:13 “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity (wrong thinking, acts and desires), and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of [doing] good works.”

Stirring yourself in God, in His agape/love and compassion, to renew your mind into His way of thinking is one such good work.

No wonder the devil wants us confused on this.

2 Cor 4:3 “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost (perishing, in misery with death, sickness and poverty): 4 in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.” KJV

This is not just for the heathen but the message to the Church then, 2000 years ago when it was written, and now.

The less you are aware of this, the less you believe, the less you practice these good things that destroy the kingdom of darkness and death, and the less you build and maintain the Kingdom of God, which is your calling.

Our Calling: This calling is the ministry of reconciliation.

2 Cor 5:14 “For the agape/love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: 15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. 16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. 2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of soteria/salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of soteria/salvation.)” KJV

Wrong atmosphere? It is hard to accept “the heavens are brass to me” when God has declared this is the Day of Soteria Salvation. The big day, the one we are waiting for is NOW, and it is waiting for us to fight the devil and get ourselves and others free and into the prosperity of the Kingdom of God.

The only brass heaven is the one between your ears. Get your mind in the right place and the heavens will open freely. It can happen anywhere, anytime to anyone who works to diligently seek the Lord and renew their minds into all that Jesus has accomplished for us in His great work. Renew your mind into the full gospel of Jesus Christ and you will walk in the manifested presence of God.

Did I do my job? I trust that in these two messages/blogs I have persuaded you of what I believe the Bible tells us. Jesus went to Hell or Hades for out salvation. Did Jesus spend 3 days in Hell? That is not answered in the Scriptures. He rose in 3 days, but where He went and what He did is not fully detailed.

Summary of what Jesus did: Here is my summary of how Jesus accomplished our redemption and salvation: Jesus was made sin, went under the authority, control and torment of the devil in Hades and Gehenna, and was released from that awful torment and control only when you, and all mankind were justified when Jesus “cast off” the devil, made an open display of God’s victory and was raised when you, and I, and all mankind were justified.

Rom 4:24 “But for us also, to whom it (righteousness like Abraham had) shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification (or when mankind was legally fully justified ).” KJV

If Jesus had not gotten that job done for all of mankind, He would still be there. But Jesus is not under the control of the devil. Jesus is risen, He is glorified and Jesus sent Holy Spirit to Earth in His place 2000 years ago.

So Jesus got the job done, for, with, by and through God.

Jesus was raised by the Spirit of Holiness or that which is and imparts or produces holiness. Holiness means: set apart and qualified and enabled for the exclusive use of God.

Rom 1:3 “Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 4 and declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead,” KJV

How to join in the party: And this is how you are to renew your mind:

Eph 4:17-19 “This, therefore, I am saying and solemnly declaring in the Lord, that no longer are you to be ordering your behavior as the Gentiles order their behavior in the futility of their mind, being those who have their understanding darkened, who have been alienated from the zoe/life of God through the ignorance which is in them, through the hardening of their hearts, who, being of such a nature as to have become callous, abandoned themselves to wantonness, resulting in a performing of every uncleanness in the sphere of greediness.”

20-24 “But as for you, not in this manner did you learn the Christ, since, indeed, as is the case, you heard and in Him were taught just as truth is in Jesus, that you have put off once for all with reference to your former manner of life the old self who is being corrupted according to the passionate desires of deceit; moreover, that you are being constantly renewed with reference to the spirit of your mind; and that you have put on once for all the new self who after God was created in righteousness and holiness of truth.” Wuest

Notice the exhortation or chastisement in verses 17-19 to stop calling God a liar and stop acting like a mere Gentile person who does not have Holy Spirit dwelling in them, and start acting like what you are made in Jesus, a new creation “created in righteousness and holiness of truth” after or like or in the same manner as God.

Divine Nature: So yes, if you are born again, you have the divine nature in you.

2 Peter 1:2 “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the epignosis/knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3 according as his divine dunamis/power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto zoe/life and godliness, through the epignosis/knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: tat by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust [in the new creation].”

As we are commanded:

Rom 13:14 “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” KJV

And again:

1 John 2:1 “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he (Jesus) walked.” KJV

Vanity Fair: I really don’t care how exciting your Bible study is, how exciting your youth group is, how dynamic your pastor or preacher is, or how erudite your favor authors are, if they are not helping you obey Rom 13:14 so that you walk just like Jesus walked, why are you not in intercession for them and why are you not seeking those who are doing their job given by God at the price of the incarnation, suffering, death, resurrection and glorification of Jesus Christ?

Evil: The Hebrew word for evil means to twist. You take what is true and pervert it so it no longer provides a path for God to enter and bless this world. When you are getting truth, even a 3-year-old can minster healing and get an old woman healed and free from a wheel chair. That is what truth does for a child. For an adult steeped in lies, it usually takes a lot more truth and fact untangling for consistent walking in answered prayer and aiteo.

Take a bath, please! Please do not listen to this next Scripture as a teaching on healing, but on how Jesus cleanses us to walk in what He made us by the new birth.

Eph 5:25 “Husbands, agape/love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” KJV

Notice Jesus gets a bride that He has to clean up. We are made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Cor 5:21) in our spirit in the new birth. The washing of water by the Word is the process by which we learn to walk in what we are now, “created in righteousness and holiness after God.”

John 8:31 “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” KJV

Make the choice: If you are born again, you have the zoe life of God, but the way we think determines whether we love or hate this zoe life which is designed to bring Heaven to Earth through you.

Eph 4:17 “This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the zoe/life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 19 who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 if so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus.” KJV

Notice you can be a Christian with Holy Spirit dwelling inside, and your spirit filled with zoe life, but by the way you think be alienated, at war with, offended, scandalized and ashamed of God’s zoe life in you.

1 Cor 3:1 “And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as (mere or Gentile) men?” KJV

So how do you get into this terrible and impotent position? We are told:

Eph 4:20 “But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 if so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus.” KJV

Right teaching: Or those who are teaching you have not told you the truth about Jesus, they are not teaching you for and by Jesus, and you are learning lies and not truth. The results show what truth is:

2 Tim 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of dunamis/power (miracle-working power), and of agape/love, and of a sound mind (to think, speak and operate like Jesus would).” So you are either operating in the demonic spirit of fear, or Holy Spirit of dunamis/power, agape/love and a mind like Jesus has.

The results will show what spirit your soul is operating in. Your spirit is righteousness and holiness after God in the new creation, but your soul (your heart, mind, will and emotions) works in accordance with one spirit or another on a thought by thought basis. This process of Word-washing is called sozo/saving your soul. It is something we do, with God, but it is our responsibility.

James 1:21 “Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your psuche/souls (lives). 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” KJV

And again:

Heb 10:38 “Now the just shall zao/live by faith: but if any man draw back, my (God’s) psuche/soul (life) shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition (death working in you in sickness, poverty, lies and no valid hope); but of them that believe to the sozo/saving of the psuche/soul (life).” KJV Note this whole book of Hebrews is to Christians who, though born again, were not walking the reality of what Jesus accomplished.

Permanent from God: The gift of righteousness in permanent; how you use it is up to you.

Rom 11:29 “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.” KJV

Do it right, and this is the promise:

Rom 5:14 “Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. 15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one (Adam) many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. 16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. 17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned (as king as seen in all the misery and cruelty in the world) by one; much more they which (continually) lambano/receive abundance of grace and of the [permanent] gift of righteousness shall reign (as a king like Jesus and as seen in the book of Acts) in zoe/life by one, Jesus Christ.) 18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of zoe/life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. 20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: 21 that as sin hath reigned (as a cruel king) unto death, even so might grace reign (like Jesus demonstrated) through righteousness unto eternal zoe/life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” KJV

I remember sharing this passage with a Baptist minister who had recently left the ministry. He read it and said with a sad and wistful voice, “Great Scripture, but who can walk in it?” This a valid question, especially if you do not know the meaning of the word lambano” in verse 17.

Lambano – means to hold on no matter what, like a person thrown overboard in a stormy sea and holding onto a life-preserver. You keep holding on by proclaiming this word is stronger than the evil circumstances. Go read first James for more detail on how to do this. And obey Phil 4:4-9 every time you get even a hint of fear. Our books also describe how to do this effectively.

But you need to know that every hold possible Satan could have is legally broken by the word of Jesus and you must enforce that work on the devil. If you are quibbling over the clear message of Scripture, I have seen few of such do what others are now doing – healing the sick and raising the dead. What does your ministry do?

Our ministry here at Covenant Peace is to help you walk in this great work of the mighty Arm of God.

Jesus got His job done. He went to hell and paid for our redemption.

Do the undone: Those who have gone to hell since then have gone because we the Church, the Body of Christ, have not done our job. Jesus did His; it is up to us to do our job. Jesus is coming again, and, if that does not drive you to obey this command, you are calling God a liar by your inaction:

1 John 3:1 “Behold (be aware and make this change the way you think, speak and do from now on), what manner of agape/love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 2 Agape/Beloved, now are we the sons of God [not later when you get to Heaven, but right now, today, if you are born again with indwelling Holy Spirit], and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he (Jesus) shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” KJV

So if you are purifying yourself to the level of Jesus, please share with us what you are doing, and how it is working. How many do you lead to Christ, how many sick are healed, the dead raised, the lepers cleansed, the devil s cast out and how many you are teaching to do the same.

Yikes! Yes this is forceful. Yes, I am excited. Yes, I am exhorting us; you and I to get into God, and make what Jesus accomplished change your life, now, and not later.

Heb 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” KJV

Get shaken: Here is the verse that shook me up years ago and still shakes me up:

Philemon 6 “That the communication (manner of living in Holy Spirit) of thy faith may become effectual (powerful to bring Heaven to Earth, now in this life) by the epignosis/acknowledging (learning, practicing and operating as a master craftsman) of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.” KJV

Free offer: So now you know what I write about in my books and what I preach. For a limited time, if you will ask for a copy to review, I will be happy to send you one over the internet. I mean write a review and post in on Amazon.com where that book is listed (print and Kindle).

God is no respecter of persons. His ways apply to all, all the time. If you do not see God move, the problem is not on the “God” end.

We are destroyed, walk in failure, fear and confusion, by lack of knowledge and lies, not some administrative decision by God.

God is no respecter of persons. Do the right things and you will get the right results; do anything different and you will be unhappy sooner or later. Digital Universe.

Evil works inspired and powered by the devil are no match for the Living God, but they sure tempt fleshly leaky neurons, even in those spiritually righteous.

There are no wrong answers here, only seek more of Jesus who already paid for every failure we ever made, are now making, or will make. Since He was healed of it, so are you.

It will be shameful for you to show up on the Day of Judgment and see that every hardness of heart was already healed and waiting for you to do the right labour to get that hardness of heart healing already done in Jesus.

A Bible not devoured is like bags of seed stored away. The potential of God into the Earth is there, but never a harvest is made. Jesus is the Seed. The only soil that matters is your heart.

Keep Working the Word so God can Work!

God Bless You and Yours in the Name of Jesus to be more Noble in Him (Acts 17:11-12)

Jesus is Lord of Heaven and Earth!
