Rebuking a John MacArthur Cessationist for Slamming a Divine Healing Testimony – Part 1
Correspondence with Don Mann on Divine Continuationism Healing versus Cessationism – Part 1
Or, the Scriptural basis for why divine or faith or miracle healing is still occurring today.
This was prompted when Jake read this: Faith Healing Miracle Testimony with Methods of Dominion Right On Time Part 1 and 2.
Incited when Jake read our article: Faith Healing Miracle Testimony with Methods of Dominion Right On Time Part 1 and Part 2
Jake 8/2/14 (After reading the Part 1 and 2 article)
Hey Matt. Hope you are well. Thanks for sending the email. This type of thinking is called “word of faith” which is hyper-Pentecostal. I would like to comment positively on this but i can’t. If you would like to know more of my view on this which is in line with the Protestant reformation, i would be glad to share it with you bro. God bless
Matt to Jake
Jake, I suspected your response and definitely want to hear your views on it. Been in NYC hospitals with mom for her surgery this week. She is ok. I think I pass your house, can I stop by some time? Best, Matt
NOTE: Shortly after this discussion, Matt’s mother was divinely healed of kidney cancer. They went in and found no cancer on August 14, and then she, 85 years old, was up and walking all day in about 10 days. This was a miracle healing and an extraordinary recovery.
The mother, an atheist all her life, woke up praising Jesus for healing her as she was told she might not survive the surgery.
We did not tell Jake about this testimony.
Matt to Jake,
Does your version of the Protestant Reformation Theology result in healings today?
Don says what his article is, is his version of Protestant Reformation Theology.
Don says for you to leave us your phone number for his people to call you at midnight for those late night calls of desperation, to get them healed within an hour after you get the prayer request.
God Bless, Matt
Jake 8/4/14 to Michael
Matt, We are cessationists because we claim the sign gifts of miracles died with the apostles after the establishment of the church. The gifts in the book of acts are no more repeatable than is the crucifixion of Jesus. We contend that these are historical onetime events, not patterns to follow. (Reformed) Church History is cooperative with this. I highly recommend reading John MacArthur “strange fire ” and “charismatic chaos”.
MK 8/4/14 The Bible’s “name it and claim it” verse.
Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Jake 8/4/14 to Don
– So if you believe that you can prevent every death in the world tomorrow no one will die right? Or if you believe that you can go to a cemetery and resurrect all who are in the grave, you will be able to empty it right?
Context and harmony with other scriptures is needed to be biblical!!!
Don 8/5/14 responding to Jake’s 8/4 email.
What are you saying? Jake, you said: “So if you believe that you can prevent every death in the world tomorrow no one will die right? Or if you believe that you can go to a cemetery and resurrect all who are in the grave, you will be able to empty it right?”
Even Jesus did not demonstrate your specious statements! But He will one day!
Are you so angry at God that you are calling me a liar? You cannot believe that God who NEVER CHANGES, (Mal 3:6) and Jesus who is THE SAME, YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER, (Heb 13:8) still cannot do what Jesus did then? How foolish!
The same God who did the miracles of Jesus, Abraham and Moses, is still around and still doing what He has always done. So you not only call me a liar, you call the Bible a liar, and therefore you call God, Holy Spirit and Jesus as liars. That is a job title called, Accuser of the Brethren, and not a happy job description.
Mal 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I change not…”
Heb 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
I had no idea that simply reporting an answer to prayer would bring such denouncement and allegations that my reporting what happened is all a lie. I have been praying and seeing people get healed most of my adult life, so this is not new to me. But to come back with such specious and obviously ignorant statements out of nowhere is a first for me.
If you want medically diagnosed, medically terminated and the patient left to die, and then medically validated re-diagnosis that the patient was totally healed, organs restored, etc, after prayer-based ministry in the name of Jesus, then look into the ministries of John Lake of the early 1900-1935 or T. L. Osborn (died 2013), or Curry Blake (still living), or Charles Ndifon (still living) for more recent times.
Funny thing is, they all maintained records of the diagnoses of the terminally sick and then well by the thousands, and their testimony is that they never saw anyone who saw the records even bothered to talk to the doctors involved, nor to those so healed, but summarily denied the records and the personal testimonies of those healed, just like your beloved John MacArthur does. The doubters typically are like the leaders in the Bible, who saw Jesus heal people and then killed Him to stop the miracles, because they drew people to Him. That is the pool you are drinking from. And that water is never sweet.
So you are left with the medical industry where the statistics are that roughly 1/3 are helped, 1/3 get well in spite of medical intervention and 1/3 die. The failures of modern medicine are so staggering it takes an idiot to go to a doctor, as it is now the leading cause of death in America.
At least medicine tries to help people; you and MacArthur remove every hope in God and turn them over to “science!” You are like a man who sees a cripple walking with a broken crutch, and you kick it out from under him, and then roll him off the road so you cannot stumble over him. Yet ever since the days of the Book of Acts, there are people who deny your cruel message and see God in gracious power.
The Southern Baptists have been cessationists since the 1700’s, but some churches have recently reversed this position due to the large numbers of obviously divine healing and manifestation of the 1 Cor 12 gifts of Holy Spirit, among their own members. This leaves the number of cessationist groups a small minority among Christians. It is just recently that the vast number of healing miracles among their own members, as mostly delivered by Word of Faith people, has caused the Southern Baptists to reverse their stance. They still have it twisted, but at least they now teach all the Holy Spirit gifts of 1 Cor 12, 14 and Rom 12 are for today. They have gone from cessationists to at least allowing continuationism of divine events.
Here are several passages describing the New Testament gifts of Holy Spirit in the church.
1 Cor 12:7-10
7 “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.”
1 Cor 14:14-15
14 “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.”
1 Cor 12:28 “And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.”
1 Cor 14:31 “For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.”
6 “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.”
Miracle healings are now so prevalent in the medical industry that they call them “Spontaneous Remissions,” rather than try to explain them. But in the last 20 years these SR’s have increased dramatically as the word of healing in Jesus is getting out. And yes, they are far more prevalent in the south where faith is taught more often, than in the more faithless north where we live.
Among those in the group I am with, led by Curry Blake of John G Lake Ministries, www.jglm.org, as was true with Dr Lake in the early 1900’s, many doctors have left the medical business to do divine healing in the name of Jesus.
For today, the doctrine of cessationism is firmly entrenched in what is called Reformed Christianity, of which John MacArthur is a part. This is the belief that the apostolic and charismatic gifts (including speaking in tongues) ceased after the original 12 apostles passed away. However, several notable early church fathers—such as Justin Martyr (100-165), Irenaeus (115-202), Tertullian (160-220), and Origen (185-254)—recorded that the spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues, were still active in the church in their days. Augustine of Hippo (354-430), author of City of God, recorded healing miracles in his day. All of these are long after John, the last of the original apostles, had passed away around 100 AD. With these and other reports, there is significant historical evidence that the gifts did not stop at the death of John. There is significant evidence that the gifts have been in evidence since the early New Testament days through to today.
Recent Facts: J. D. King recounted that, though the church was conceived in the wicked constraints of the Roman Empire, it still found a way to grow exponentially.
Reflecting on this, Mark Galli, the editor of Christian History Magazine, noted that by AD 350 “about 56 percent of the population claimed to be Christians.”
Within a short period of time, of about 300 years, the followers of Jesus literally overtook this violent, unforgiving empire.
Historians such as Ramsey MacMullen of Yale and Peter Brown of Princeton acknowledge this expansion happened, principally, through healing and deliverance. In a time of intense persecution and evil, numerous conversions were ignited by these compelling signs and wonders.
Many would readily acknowledge this truth. Yet, they are reticent to accept this as a contemporary approach for evangelism and engagement, particularly in America. I certainly comprehend the skepticism and uncertainty. Yet the supernatural not only enabled growth in the tumultuous beginning, it is also facilitating growth right now.
This kind of expansion is currently evident throughout the third world. Many testimonies and demographic reports reveal that healing, deliverance and the gifts of the Spirit are facilitating a great expansion of the church. Luis Lugo points out that “Pentecostal beliefs and practices are literally reshaping the face of Christianity throughout the developing world.”
The estimates are that 80-90 % of recent developing world conversions to Christianity are by “Power Evangelism,” where most converts either were healed or had demons cast out of themselves, or saw them in others. To them the issue is that every healing and demon deliverance is the declaration that God, through the name of Jesus, is the most powerful God.
For the most part, these things obviously are lacking in the American church, which explains a lot. – See more at: http://www.charismanews.com/opinion/45460-the-real-reason-american-churches-aren-t-growing#sthash.1Aqic7x9.dpuf
These validated historical facts debunk, destroy and makes ludicrous the Cessationist claim that God stopped doing wholesale miracles after the last apostle died, which is assumed to be John, at around 100 AD.
Jesus clearly stated that Holy Spirit is the one that did His miracles. It was not Jesus acting as God, but Jesus acting as a man working with God so He could be our example.
Here Jesus tells us it was not Him, but that Jesus used Holy Spirit to cast out the devils. It was Holy spirit in response to Jesus’ commands that cast out the devils or demons.
Matt 12:28 “But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.”
Here Jesus tells us that it was not Jesus but Father God (by Holy Spirit) who did all the signs and wonders Jesus did.
John 14:10 “Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
Notice that Jesus then tells the disciples that those who believe on Jesus can do what Jesus did and even greater. The requirement is to be a believer, and not just an origional apostle of Jesus.
Holy Spirit: The chief issue for the subject of “Are miracles for today,” is where is Holy Spirit? If He is still here, which most of these cessationists claim, then all the gifts of Holy Spirit are here with Him and therefore the book of Acts cannot go away, but lives on today. Holy Spirit is a person and you get all of Him if you get any of Him. So with Him comes the gifts of Holy Spirit, which includes divine healing.
Jake, you are into an old heresy. For that matter Dr. Lake (during the years of 1890-1935) spent a lot of time dealing with cessationists in his day, so there are several articles about it in the book that Pam has by Roberts Liardon. From a historical perspective the signs and wonders seems to have reduced at around 400 AD, but every generation has had reports of divine activity. Today, by sheer numbers, the gifts of Holy Spirit are in abundance all over the earth.
And I put a couple of these clarifying articles in my book, “Battle Prayer for Divine Healing – FM2.”
Jake, If you are open to honest investigation, then read a copy of “The God of Miracles” by Henri Nissen, of an outpouring of divine miracles in the name of Jesus, in Denmark around 2000-2003 with atheistic corroborated newspaper and TV recorded miracles, all medically validated as real and then healed supernaturally, by the hundreds. The minister there was Charles Ndifon.
You said: So if you believe that you can prevent every death in the world tomorrow, no one will die right? Or if you believe that you can go to a cemetery and resurrect all who are in the grave, you will be able to empty it right?
I did not make either of these specious statements, you did. Now both your specious statements will come to pass, when Jesus returns in the flesh. They are for that day, but not now. Or do you not know this?
That article I wrote related at least two non-cessationists (or continuationist) answers to prayer. What makes you think you calling me a liar is valid, or somehow changes what has already happened? What kind of person does that? And then bold statements like these? What is going on?
An honest seeker would ask for details, or at least some kind of questions. Perhaps even talk to the mother involved. You do none of this; you just shout that you have the truth and all I said was lies. This is a sad way for an intelligent seeker to go.
Let me get this straight. You are cessationists because you cannot get prayer with God to work, is that right? And because you “know” prayer does not work, you don’t even try to learn and do, is that right? That is like saying you lost your car keys, and therefore all cars no longer exist and certainly cannot drive. But effective prayer can be learned and Jesus taught on it.
This is self-fulfilling because God only responds to faith, not need. He suffers with you and wants to heal you, but needs faith in Him by His word to release Him. The promises of God go to believers, and not just those in need. Since you say God will not do this, then you can have no faith in God by His word. Therefore you do not see answers to prayer. Such is your sad circle of deplorable and hopeless logic.
I know you would refute this, but the good news is that for people like me, I do not need any faith on your part to get you healed in the name of Jesus. Since we have seen cessationists get healed all my life, your need should not be a problem. This is how you raise people from the dead. The dead have no faith, and so we do not need much faith on the part of those we pray for.
Your position is, if you can’t do it, it cannot be done. You are like a kid holding a tennis racket, and because some idiot told you that you cannot possibly hit tennis balls, you don’t even try. And even worse, you picket the TV stations because they show the tennis championships, just because you could not hit a tennis ball. And you stand on the hill above the public tennis courts while people play, yelling, “You are deceived, what you are doing cannot be done (because I can’t do it).”
You have fallen into the trap of interpreting the Bible by your experience, rather letting the Bible define your experiences. Your failures in prayer do not define God, but they do define your ignorance, doubts, unbelief, lack of diligence, and probably lack of compassion. And that is what the Bible says, not me. Since you are so in love with the medical industry, this is the diagnosis.
The Book of Acts is more accurately described as not, the acts of men, but the acts of Holy Spirit, through ordinary men. Jesus stated Holy Spirit is His replacement for the presence of God. So as long as Holy Spirit is on earth, the Book of Acts is not yet finished, and Jesus is still doing what Jesus has always done. And to assign miracles only to the Book of Acts time frame is to deny all the Old Testament miracles done seeking Jehovah God.
The first recorded healing miracle in the Bible is in the book of Genesis with Abraham (Genesis 20:17) and in that prayer a whole household of people got healed. The same God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament, and is the same God of forever, who changes not and therefore is the same God of today.
Gen 20:17 “So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.”
If He worked miracles for Abraham in answer to prayer, then He is still capable of working miracles for those who will seek Him today. Therefore, if you do not work miracles by prayer in the name of Jesus, then you are not one who seeks God, but men. Again, your comments on the Bible are therefore corrupt and dangerous to biblical honesty and integrity. And that is a biblical statement made in the context of the Bible and your last 2 emails.
It is not biblical or in a godly context to call someone a liar just because you don’t like the message. That is right; kill the messenger and the events they report will cease to exist. So if someone had shot Paul Revere during the American Revolution to stop his famous ride, then that means the British would not have come, by your logic. It may be one thing to honestly debate theology, but it is another to call witness reports a lie. That is dishonest. And the essence of our modern scientific inquiry is honest investigation. So you have self-eliminated yourself as an honest investigator.
Well, for you I am sorry, you and your lies are too late; I have over one hundred similar reports, divine miracles all across the world. And I know others who have many more. And they are all over YouTube to watch in unedited glory.
Holy Spirit is here and He will be with the Christian forever:
16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”
Because until Holy Spirit leaves this earth, Rom 12, 1 Cor 12 and 14 will forever stand as to what Holy Spirit always does for those who take the trouble to believe by the Bible. And who repealed Mark 11:22-26; John 14:12-14; or 16:23-24? And of course you call Jesus a liar when He taught us to pray the Our Father. To you this is just wasted effort. Why pray if there are no answers?
21 “And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God (or operate in faith like God does).
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye aiteo/desire (demand, require and expect as due by covenant promise), when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
12 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall aiteo/ask (demand, require and expect as due by covenant promise) in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall aiteo/ask (demand, require and expect as due by covenant promise) any thing in my name, I will do it.”
23 “And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall aiteo/ask (demand, require and expect as due by covenant promise) the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: aiteo/ask (demand, require and expect as due by covenant promise), and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”
But if there is even one answer, then your beliefs are a fallen house of cards. As to the book of Acts, those events are being repeated and superseded daily around the world today. They baffle and open the minds of honest investigators, and, as for dishonest investigators, they are to be avoided at all costs.
All it takes is one answered prayer to knock down the entire cessationist house of cards. And the evidence is overwhelming that God is still doing what He did in Acts, and even more. So the only position you are left with Jake, is the same that an atheist has. They call all contrary information as invalid because they cannot stand a different answer. So no amount of evidence will persuade you.
Christian cessationists fit a special caliber in the Bible. They are people who claim the Book, but deny the power of God. This makes the heart hard and Jesus described answering you this way:
Luke 16:28-31 Jesus told that the rich man said:
28 “For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”
What Jesus is saying is that because the Christian cessationists claim to see, they remain in their sin, and the only thing to cleanse them is to believe the Word of God. This is what happened to the Southern Baptists. They saw the miracles, signs and wonders, and could not refute the Scriptures. But they did for some 250 years.
For these kinds of cessationists, not even seeing someone risen from the dead will convince them, until they are first humbled and enlightened by the Scriptures. This is why Jesus called them “full of dead men’s bones” and “a generation of vipers, and “your father is the devil.” That phrase “your father is the devil” is not their spiritual heritage, but rather the source of their current thinking.
These same kinds of people saw Jesus heal thousands a day and managed to deny it was God doing the miracles. So the common cessationist message is that all miracles are of the devil. They have more faith in a cruel and merciless devil than a loving God. That is twisted!
2 Thess 2:9 “Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders.”
That whole thing about Satan’s imitation miracles of God means that first you have to have miracles of God in the present day for the devil to imitate. So that right there debunks the whole cessationist deal. You can only counterfeit what is the real. So in order for Satan to counterfeit the real, the real must be going on at the same time as the counterfeits are. Else they are just Satan’s miracles and not counterfeits. And that means God is still doing miracles today.
Some cessationists claim that miracles in Jesus will arise as the return of the Lord is near. That is amazing, since reports of active supernatural and biblical Christianity are all growing over the world, if they are fighting the presence of miracles, they are fighting God.
And how about 1 Cor 12:31 and 14:1, where you are commanded to covet, desire eagerly, make it your life passion, to do the Holy Spirit miracle gifts, all of them?
1 Cor 12:31 “But covet earnestly (desire passionately) the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.”
1 Cor 14:1 “Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.”
Since those chapters cannot be repealed, being a cessationist means you are not a full Bible believer. You are just like a Jehovah’s Witness or a Mormon or even a Moslem, or for that matter, a traditional Jew who says the Messiah has yet to come, where you select only certain parts of the Bible, and remove the rest. That means as far as I am concerned, since you are at best only a partial Bible believer, you can make no valid claims about the Bible. Everything you say is corrupt, and that includes your beloved MacArthur.
As long as Holy Spirit is on the earth and in the Church, then 1 Cor 12 and 14, not to mention Mark 16:14-20, and Matt 28:18-20 (where Jesus specifically told them to teach others to do ALL Jesus taught them and that includes Holy Spirit miracles, but they are for those who will believe the full Bible). You cannot be a valid missionary if you do not include all Jesus taught, including how to work miracles.
14 “Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”
18 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
And that includes answers to prayer. And if any prayer is ever answered today, then all the Bible promises are ours because God is no respecter of persons. Do the right things in God and you will get the right results of God. Go your own way, and nothing happening with God is the promised result. So your cessationist views are guaranteed to produce no miracle results. Thus you are a self-fulfilling prophet of defeat, despair, and lies. You sound like the pontificating braggarts who said man could never fly.
This puts you in this category that Jesus described: Mark 12:24 “And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the dunamis/power of God?” But you do know the lies of a bitter man seeking and finding bitter people to spout his bitter despair.
You may think you know the Scriptures, but until you know the dunamis miracle power of God, you are in biblical error. And that miracle power is Holy Spirit in action through humans. It is what and who Holy Spirit is. He is the power of God. And if Holy Spirit is present, all the power of God is present and can be released by faith mixed with the promises of God for those who will.
Jesus commanded that we are to demonstrate the same gospel He preached to all the nations. It is obvious that today, there remains large groups in the world who do not have a full and valid preaching of the gospel. The are still some who in no way could be considered as having or allowing a Christian witness. Since Jesus commanded the apostles do preach with the working of miracles, and the job is still not done of making disciples of the nations, then the miracles are still for today until all new converts walk in Mark 16:15-20.
When Jesus was asked how ordinary men could work miracles, here is what the Gospel of John records:
John 6:28 “Then said they unto him (Jesus), What shall we do, that we might work the dunamis/works (miracles) of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”
Since you and John MacArthur do not do the miracle works of God, then you do not do whatever that word “believe” means, because believers in Jesus do miracle works, and this was Jesus describing how to do it. Whatever kind of “believing” you are doing, it is not the same as Jesus is describing, because Jesus did Holy Spirit powered miracles, and those that believe rightly on Him do Holy Spirit powered miracles. Since I see Holy Spirit do miracles through me, I must be doing a better job of believing than those who do not see miracles. So you must not be believing on Jesus rightly. So your beliefs are corrupt.
When Jesus saw the depth of the need, and the religious leaders could not get the people supernaturally healed, Jesus appointed 12 and then 70 more to go heal. That means at one time there were 83 (Jesus + 12+70) working miracles, not to mention the one the disciples tried to stop who was working miracles in the name of Jesus, but did not follow them. That is at least 84 people working miracles of God, doing what Jesus wanted.
Here is what happened. Mark 9:38-40
38 “And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part.”
And for a similar case: Luke 9:50 “And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.”
Notice Jesus said that anyone who does miracles in His name in on Jesus’ part. So if I today work miracles in the name of Jesus, which I do, Jesus says I am doing what He wants. So if you want praise of Jesus, go work some demon-casting-out miracles in the name of Jesus. Now this statement is never repealed in the entire Bible. So it still stands as a way to please God today.
And the corollary is also true, if you are trying to stop people from working miracles in the name of Jesus, you are not a friend, but an enemy of Jesus. That is another sad job description for you, Jake.
Since Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever, He still wants people healing others in the name of Jesus. If you want to please Jesus, then get the right teaching as they were told in Matt 28:20 to give, so you can do what God created you to do. Since you like dealing in absolutes, until you do, and are seeking to do, then you are a hater of Jesus. That is another sad job description for you, Jake.
Amen.”
John 14:15 “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
If you do not love Jesus, you are hating Him. Digital Universe.
If a man will not work miracles, but only trust in the hand of man, or as we call it today, science, he is not a lover of God.
Matt 6:24 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
Jesus did not avoid the religious leaders; they just would not answer His call, just like you and John MacArthur. Jesus summarily dismissed you as “not shepherds,” those who have a seat, but do not do your God-assigned jobs. Jesus loves people still, and people still can see His hand in power, but not you and your “non-shepherd.” So Jesus has called a lot more than the 83, and we are all over the earth doing the works of Jesus, while you watch people suffer with no godly action on your part. Jesus calls this a hard heart.
Since you apparently will not help in the midnight calls of distress, know that if you call me in your distress, I will pray, and God, who makes the sun to rise every day in the clockwork of the stars, just like He does in the laws of prayer, will move in you for your blessing also. And I really won’t care if you acknowledge God did it or not, if at no other time, Judgment Day will be the time you will hear, but that will be at your expense. So if you really need help, please send me an email so I can take it as a prayer request. Even though I despise the cruel lies you assert, that will not stop the love of God in Holy Spirit from healing you with my prayers.
Here are some facts: If Jesus spent 3-6 hours a day, 1-4 all nights a week, and often arose early in the morning for Scripture prayer, and Peter, James, Paul and other disciples did the same, and all taught their disciples to do the same, along with 1-6 hours a day in Holy Spirit tongues, why not you? So if you wonder where your answers from God are, now you know.
If you did not spend the time and “Jesus-effort” before the battle, do not be surprised if you have to spend it in the battle to get victory. Otherwise learn to accept defeat, and like the cessationists, blame it on something else rather than your lack of diligence. If you are a child of God, born-again in Jesus, you have all the power of God there is. The issue is you effectively renewing your mind to release God.
God spent the wonder of the Universe, Jesus, for our healing and blessing. The issue is not God withholding anything. The issue is us doing the right things to release Him, as God is no respecter of persons, nor can He show partiality (Acts 10:34-35).
34 “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons (shows no partiality of one over another):
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.”
This means that all those you think are closer to God than you are did not get there by the special finger or choosing of God, but did it by doing more of the right things of God than you did. And that includes Jesus and all the apostles in the Bible. Jesus came as a man and emptied Himself of deity. So He removed from Himself everything that you do not have, so He could do it like you can do it.
A Bible not devoured is like bags of seed stored away. The potential of God into the earth is there, but rarely a harvest is made. Jesus is the Seed. The only soil that matters is your heart.
The truly difficult thing is the consequences of not managing your thought life.
